Home modifications refer to structural or non-structural changes made to a residence to improve accessibility, safety, and functional independence for people with disability, injury, or age-related conditions. These changes are typically recommended by an occupational therapist following a comprehensive home assessment.
Home modifications can range from simple, low-cost additions such as installing grab rails or improving lighting, to more complex structural works including widening doorways, constructing wheelchair ramps, or fully redesigning bathrooms and kitchens to meet accessibility standards.

For participants living in Specialist Disability Accommodation, major modifications may be subject to separate approval processes. Prime 1 Care can advise on the appropriate pathway based on your accommodation type and NDIS plan.
