Our services

Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living, often called SIL, is assistance with daily life in a home setting. The right arrangement begins with the participant’s needs and choices.

A support arrangement around daily life

Discuss assistance with personal care, household routines, meals, communication and participation. The proposed arrangement needs to reflect the level and timing of support the person requires.

Understand overnight and 24 hour support

If ongoing or overnight support is needed, clarify awake overnight, sleepover and any on-call arrangements. These are not interchangeable. Confirm staffing, responsibilities and escalation processes in the service agreement.

Housing and shared living

SIL does not itself provide a house or establish eligibility for SDA. If shared living is being considered, discuss compatibility, privacy, access, location and the participant’s preferences before progressing.

Availability and a planned start

Prime 1 Care has published supported living services in its established regions. Current staffing, property availability where relevant, funding and suitability must be checked for every enquiry.

Your questions

Clear answers. A place to start.

Can SIL provide 24 hour support?

An appropriate SIL arrangement may include support across the day and night. The exact roster and level of support depend on assessed needs, funding and confirmed service capacity.

Does a SIL referral guarantee accommodation?

No. Housing availability and support arrangements are separate. Confirm any proposed property, eligibility, costs and start date with the relevant parties before making plans.
